You have twenty minutes on the train, or a quiet hour after dinner. Choosing something before that gap starts can be more useful than scrolling recommendations through half of it. This little shelf gives three different routes: an episode from a public podcast, a book borrowed from your library, or an audiobook selected through a paid service.
Overcast, Libby and Audible are complementary ways to find that next piece of listening or reading. They are not a requirement to subscribe everywhere. Match the format, access terms and available time to one thing you actually want to finish. An empty queue can be a good outcome too.
Overcast: an episode-sized choice
Choose Overcast for public-feed podcasts and a queue you arrange deliberately. Its developer describes Smart Speed for shortening silences and Voice Boost for volume adjustment. The listing documents episode downloads and playlists. Those are capabilities to consider, not audio-quality results measured by AppleApps. Try the ordinary playback setting before deciding whether a particular show benefits from adjustments. Product page, official listing
Skip it if your existing podcast player already gives you the queue and download controls you need. Most Overcast features are free with visual podcast ads; its annual subscription can hide those app ads. That offer is not a promise to remove sponsor messages recorded into an episode. Check the current subscription price if the visual ads are the reason you want Premium. Overcast's free and paid offer
