You are ready to book something and the login offers three almost-identical account names. The useful password kit starts with recognising which one is yours. Then it needs a way to reach the same information on your other devices and a route back in when the usual device is unavailable.
The three apps here cover distinct starting points. They overlap, so this is a shortlist for choosing one main credential routine, rather than a shopping list that needs all three. Our “must-have” is an understandable system: the right account, the devices it serves and the recovery details you have actually read.
Passwords: begin with the Apple baseline
Choose Passwords if Apple's existing account workflow fits most of your day. Apple documents passwords, passkeys, verification codes and shared groups, with iCloud Keychain keeping credentials up to date across approved devices. It also documents iCloud Passwords for supported Windows browsers, so a PC does not automatically rule it out. Apple's Passwords guide
Skip a move into it if your current manager already covers the devices and sharing arrangement you need. First check the Apple software and account requirements against those devices. If you later migrate through a password CSV, Apple's guide warns that the file is unencrypted and excludes some items, including Wi-Fi passwords. An export is a deliberate transfer, not a casual attachment. Export documentation
Bitwarden: the mixed-device route
Choose Bitwarden when your everyday devices and browsers need one consistent manager. Its current plan page includes unlimited devices and passwords, browser, desktop and mobile clients, and encrypted export in core features. Basic management is free; integrated authenticator, attachments and emergency access are among paid extras. Match the particular feature to the plan rather than assuming the paid tier is necessary for every person.
