Checked 1 October 2026. This is a developer-documentation and App Store listing audit. AppleApps has not taken comparison photos, measured image quality or tested capture reliability.
You see interesting light on a wall and want to decide how it becomes a photograph. That is a different job from quickly recording a receipt. Halide belongs in a creative afternoon: a small group of tools for making intentional choices rather than simply collecting more pictures.
Which Halide this is
The official listing now calls Store ID 885697368 Halide Mark III - Pro Camera, published by Lux Optics Incorporated. Apple's current metadata lists version 3.2.0 and an iOS 18.0 minimum. The continuing Store ID matters when an older reference still says Mark II. This audit concerns the current listing and documentation; it does not describe an installed copy or establish which camera features your particular phone exposes. Halide on the App Store
The developer describes manual shutter speed, ISO and white balance, along with focus peaking and a focus loupe. Those controls can be relevant when you want a particular focus plane or exposure. They also ask you to learn what you are changing. Our interpretation is that Halide makes more sense when you enjoy that choice, rather than expecting an extra control panel to improve every spontaneous picture. Halide's camera tools
Processing is a preference to examine
Halide describes Process Zero as a way to use minimal processing instead of Apple's computational-photo treatment. The developer also offers photographic Looks and film-simulation choices. That is a stated approach, not evidence that its output is universally more natural or better. The useful question is whether you like how a familiar subject looks in the mode you select. We have not compared shadow detail, movement, noise or skin rendering.
