The form arrives just as you are leaving the house. It needs two details, a signature and an attachment returned today. PDF Expert is a candidate for that very ordinary interruption: working on the document itself, then sending a usable copy back. Its value depends as much on the handoff as on the editing toolbar.
Fits your day if
You regularly read, annotate, fill or sign PDFs on an iPhone or iPad. Readdle's current App Store listing describes highlighting, comments, form filling and signatures. It lists editing text and images, conversion, document organisation and redaction among Premium features. The download is free with in-app purchases; that does not make every advertised tool part of the free download.
Our editorial read: this is a document-toolbox candidate for someone who receives PDFs repeatedly. If you only open the occasional attachment, identify the missing task in your current reader first. A dedicated editor earns its place when it removes a recurring detour, such as printing a form just to fill three fields.
Sending the right copy matters
Readdle's iOS saving and sharing guide distinguishes an Original Document with editable annotations, a Flattened Copy, and Annotated Pages. It also documents saving through the share sheet to Files. Those options are useful because a marked-up review and a finished form are different handoffs.
For feedback on a draft, a recipient may want to work with annotations. For a completed form, you may want the filled result to appear consistently in their reader. Keep the editable original, then choose a separate outgoing copy. A tidy filename helps too: the other person should not have to guess whether “final-final-new” is the one you meant.
Flattening is not a substitute for removing confidential content. It changes the annotation and form representation; it should not be treated as a privacy clearance for a document. Decide what the recipient should receive before choosing an export option.
